Designing Digital Experiences to Stay Sharp
Where do you go for information when you’re thinking about brain health? Explore how Vervint helped AARP launch Staying Sharp and make it the go-to platform for information, resources, and inspiration to help maintain and improve brain health.
What We Did
AARP wanted people to think about them when they think about brain health. Their Membership Value Creation Team challenged Vervint to help determine how they could become the go-to organization for brain health among adults of all ages – not just the age 50+ Americans the organization targets.
Vervint helped AARP create the Staying Sharp platform, engaging AARP members and attracting others interested in brain health to the organization.
Digital and Service Strategy
AARP is the nation’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering Americans 50 and older to choose how they live as they age. With a nationwide presence, AARP strengthens communities and advocates for what matters most to the more than 100 million Americans 50-plus and their families: health security, financial stability, and personal fulfillment.
Asking the Right Questions
Brain health is a trending topic among adults of all ages, and AARP saw an opportunity to provide resources and expertise while expanding its reputation in adult health. For Vervint, supporting the organization’s brain health platform was an opportunity to create meaningful impact, going beyond great tech to help AARP improve the lives of its members.
Vervint worked with AARP to conduct research that revealed a need in the market for accurate, specific information on pursuing and maintaining brain health. People are concerned about brain health and seek understanding on how to decrease the likelihood of debilitating brain conditions like Alzheimer’s, dementia, and general cognitive decline.
More Than Brain Games
Vervint’s research uncovered that people wanted more than “brain games” – they sought reliable resources to help them impact brain health through lifestyle choices. The team created and tested prototypes to define a holistic service offering that would be desirable and feasible to those wanting to improve their brain health.
As the platform’s structure evolved, so did the thinking around how the service would function within the ecosystem of AARP’s services. The design process helped lead to a new model for AARP outreach and growth among existing and prospective members.
Our team helped AARP develop an online subscription product, Staying Sharp, designed to attract new prospects to the organization. The digital platform incorporates the latest scientific understandings of brain health and a holistic approach that blends health and social factors.
The program includes social networking, recipes, activities, brain challenges, and a brain health assessment tool that benchmarks a user’s memory and reaction time against others in the same age group.
With this blend of resources and our commitment to creating purposeful change, Vervint helped AARP engage current members and attract others to the organization.
